New Editorial Team for the International Review of Administrative Sciences (IRAS)

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Sabine Kuhlmann as the new Editor-in-Chief and Dr. Renate Reiter as the new Journal Manager of the IIAS leading journal, the International Review of Administrative Sciences (IRAS). Professor Kuhlmann and Dr. Reiter bring a wealth of experience in public governance research and scholarly publishing, and we are confident in their ability to lead the journal to new heights.

Professor Sabine Kuhlman is a distinguished scholar in the field of public administration, with expertise in comparative public administration and public governance. She has published extensively in renowned academic journals and has served on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals in the field.

Dr. Kuhlmann is professor of Public Administration and Organization at the University of Potsdam in Germany. She also is the Vice-Chair of the German National Regulatory Control Council advising the German Federal Government in Better Regulation. She serves as a member of the Council of Administration of IIAS and as Director of the Study Group on “Regional and Local Government” within EGPA.

Dr. Renate Reiter has a strong background in leading research projects and publishing in public administration. She will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and continued success of the journal.

Dr. Reiter is a political scientist with a focus on public policy /social and health policy and public administration as well as multi-level governance. She works as a Senior Fellow at the FernUniverstät in Hagen, where she is head of scientific research projects in her area of specialization.

Dr. Fabienne Maron, IIAS Scientific Director & EGPA Executive Secretary, will also participate in the editorial team by providing support for the French version of the journal, Revue Internationale des Sciences Administratives (RISA).

We are confident that their leadership and expertise will further enhance the quality and impact of the International Review of Administrative Sciences.

The International Review of Administrative Sciences (IRAS) is an international peer-reviewed journal devoted to academic and professional public administration. Founded in 1927, it is the oldest scholarly public administration journal specifically focused on comparative and international topics. IRAS seeks to shape the future agenda of public administration around the world by encouraging reflection on international comparisons, new techniques and approaches, the dialogue between academics and practitioners, and debates about the future of the field itself.

IRAS is the official journal of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), the European Group of Public Administration (EGPA) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA). IRAS is published in four different language editions – English, French, Spanish and Chinese.

It is with the greatest sorrow that we heard the passing away of our dear colleague and friend Dr. Fabienne Maron on December 30th, 2024.  This sad event came as a shock to all of us as we were away on the end of year break. Our greatest regret is that we were not around when she said good bye. 

Fabienne will remain as an icon of IIAS. She joined us in 2000 upon graduation with a PhD from UCLouvain. During her 24 year long service with IIAS, she was key to the spectacular development of the European Group ...
