Public Governance Series

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) are organizing a Regional Workshop for the Review of the Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training.  The workshop will take place on February 20, 2023, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, New York time, and will be conducted in Portuguese.


The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), in partnership with the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA), is actively leading the initiative to review and/or upgrade the Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training. Established in 2023, this collaborative task force is dedicated to modernizing these standards, which were last finalized in 2008, to ensure their alignment with current global goals and advancements in public administration.


The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) is pleased to announce that the book "Good Public Governance in a Global Pandemic," from the IIAS Public Governance Series, has been referenced as a valuable source in the latest World Public Sector Report, published by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).  


The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) have jointly launched a call for contributions aimed at reviewing and upgrading the Standards of Excellence on Public Administration Education and Training.


The International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Division for Public Institutions and Digital Government (DPIDG) held the First Meeting of the IASIA/UN DESA Task Force for the Review of the Standards of Excellence for Public Administration Education and Training on April 18, 2023. The aim of the meeting was to discuss the need to revamp the Standards of Excellence and agree on how to proceed to build a common shared roadmap.
